Is the Museveni we knew still the President of Uganda?

Every day we hear stories leading us to believe that this government is falling apart, there is revival of lawlessness to the levels of 1970s and 1980s, and Police has turned into a funeral service unit!

Mr. President, I was born eight years before you came to power. I have literally spent my entire conscious life under your presidency. I can comfortably say that you are the only president I have ever known.

The economics of term limits

The debate is on. A good number of Members of Parliament (MPs) belonging both to the ruling party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and opposition, sections of the clergy, activists of all kinds, and a big section of the general public have called for restitution of presidential term limit.

Mr President, it is now evident that the controversial removal of the two presidential term limit, of five years each, in 2005 distorted not only the political future of this country but also the health of its economy. I wrote in these pages way back in 2006 predicting that bisanja politics (the pet name for the no-term-limit politics we have been subjected to since 2006) will make Uganda "never the same again."

Why I think Gen. Saleh’s AKIBA’s Value Chain model could be the Key to unlock our rural economy

Mr. President, in the last 26 years, in your elusive quest for Big Answers to transform Uganda’s economy, you have tried innumerable programs, plans, policies and projects -- literally everything starting with.

During the period 1989-1995, you rolled out PAPSCA (Programme for the Alleviation of Poverty and Social Costs of Adjustment). When this failed, you introduced the infamous Entandikwa scheme in 1996 to end the abject poverty that had particularly struck you during the campaigns for 1996 presidential elections.
