I have come to the conclusion that politics is too serious a matter to be left to politicians alone.

One of the penalties of refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors. A political decision can either put a country at war or bring peace to the country and both cases will affect the citizens directly.

Even if you choose not to write about politics natural instincts will incapacitate your earlier plans to the effect that you finally turn the barrel to politics.

I now understand man is a political animal. The recent Kampala bomb attacks were a fatal signal and a remainder that terrorism is not a far fetched philosophy but an enemy within.

It beats everyone's conscious to see innocent civilians die at the mercy of the subhuman and merciless attackers.

The living hope we have is that no more attacks will be made because security is tight. You can hardly enter a building in the city without being searched.

Not even the taxi-park is spared. One ridiculous thing about the taxi park is that they do the checking during day time yet bombs exploded at night. Are they expecting a change in attacking plans by the Al-Shabaabs?

Security agents stationed at various places with weapon detectors have met open hostility from the Kampala dwellers.

These unreasonable people throw insults to the security people for suspecting them of having bombs. A security man at Nakumatt Shopping Mall complains of mostly women.

Ugandans have also got reasons to defy the security rules. Some claim that these weapon detectors may have healthy hazards to people if consistently used.

Women accuse the security people of invading what they call their privacy. In the search for the bombs some security men drop their searching gadgets and use their hands to touch women's breasts, thighs and hips. They say any swollen part of your body can possibly be a bomb.

They will now push their hands into women's bras and shirts in search for Al-shabaabs weapons of mass destruction. Thanks to Uncle Kayihura who has brought rats to detect bombs, but women will still complain. 

It's high time government became pro active instead of always being reactive to issues. Now that the Al-Shabaabs warned before the attacks the government should have put security measures to prevent the attacks.

At the recent AU summit President Museveni was wondering whose interests do the Al-Shabaabs represent. Little did he know that he is also a beneficiary of the attacks; a sort of blessing in disguise. The terrorists did the wrong thing but at the right time.

The President now has an excuse to stop opposition politicians from holding rallies in this coming election seasons citing lack of security as the reason.

The government has more than enough reasons to increase the military budget and also keep soldiers in Somalia. Some Ugandans are already saying that without Museveni as president the Al-shabaabs will finish us.  

September 11th and July 11th; what a coincidence!

History is more than names and dates but lessons to learn from. Relatives of the deceased from the Kampala bomb attacks will question the occurrence of a petroleum lorry accident at Kyadondo rugby ground killing one person on the very day the distressed relatives were to pray for their loved ones.

What a coincidence! The fact that the Al-Qaeda attacked USA on 11th September and Al- Shabaabs attacked Uganda on 11th July is a coincidence that should not go unnoticed.  

Why should the Al-Qaeda and the Al- Shabaab both choose 11th as the bombing date? Should countries now be suspicious of 11th every month so as to tighten their security?

Among the many assassinated US Presidents are Abraham Lincoln and John F Kennedy.

Lincoln was elected president in 1860 and Kennedy was elected in 1960; exactly a century apart. Lincoln was elected to congress in 1846 and Kennedy in 1946.

The intriguing coincidences of these two presidents are innumerable. Kennedy's Vice President was called Andrew Johnson (A.J) and Lincoln's Vice President was Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ).

Both men had the same surname, Johnson and were born a century (1808 and 1908). Both men are said to have been in some way involved in the deaths of their predecessors and they both became presidents after the deaths of their bosses.

It's equally astonishing that the names Andrew Johnson and Lyndon Johnson each contains thirteen letters, and both were fathers of two daughters.

They entered their presidencies in their mid-fifties and each was opposed for re-election by a man whose name started with letter G; Grant in the case of Andrew and Goldwater in the case of Lyndon.

Abraham Lincoln died in 1865 and his successor, Lyndon died in1875. John F Kennedy died in 1963 and his successor, Andrew died in 1973. Unlike their bosses, Andrew and Lyndon died of natural causes.

Sometimes there is a need to compared records to discover patterns of events and find similarities to enable decision making.

A lethal serial killer had put the security of a state on tension after killing three people in three weeks.

On a Monday night in the first week the first person was found dead in his house and his name was Mathew Carisle.

The second person was shot while in his living room on Tuesday night in the second week. The victim's name was Mark Thompson. In the Third week on Wednesday night another person identified as Luke Moores was found murdered in his bed room.

The police detectives were able to use records and link similarities surrounding these killings.

According to their findings, there was a murder case every week, and on consecutive days, that's Monday in the first week, Tuesday in the second week and Wednesday in the third week.

This meant that another murder was to take place on the Thursday night of the fourth week. Secondly all the victims were bachelors living in the same residential town.

The names of the victims were also an issue worth focusing on. Mathew was killed first followed by Mark and then Luke. These are actually books in the bible according to the New Testament (NT) and in that order. John comes next after Luke in the NT.

This meant that a bachelor with the name John was the next victim on Thursday night in the fourth week.   

With this information the police used the residential address book to locate residences of bachelors with the name John and sent under cover policemen to patron these residences on Thursday night in the fourth week.

The killer was arrested at 3 am trying to kill John Maniaci. This is what security operatives some times need to do even in the case of terrorists.
