Kampala for EAC investment meeting

The third edition of the East African Investment conference (EACIC) is set to open in Kampala on 23-30 April and aims to showcase the region's investment potential that has been spurred by economic integration. 

The week-long conference is being organized by the East African Community Secretariat in collaboration with the Ugandan government and the five regional investment promotional agencies and will be held at Speke Resort Hotel in Munyonyo.

Scheduled to take place from 28-30 April 2010 at Resort beach hotel Munyonyo, the first time it is being held in Uganda, will run under the banner "EAC Common market; The preferred Investment Destination".

The Executive Director of the Uganda Investment Authority Dr. Maggie Kigozi (Pictured) said the conference will provide a platform for show-casing EAC's achievements as well as deliberating on the most viable processes in the EAC priority sectors for investment. 

She told journalist that the conference will go along way in facilitating investment through bringing together investors to witness the emerging investment opportunities within the region.  

The EACIC is an annual event held on a rotational basis within the EAC partner states. The two prior conferences were held in Rwanda and Kenya in 2008 and 2009 respectively.

"This year 2010, we look forward to yet another successful gathering of more than 2000 participants from both the private and public sectors from within the EAC, USA Asia and Europe, " Said Kigozi.
