Giants face-off as new Super league kicks off

For the first time, Ugandan soccer lovers are to witness the professional league in the country.  Super league is commencing today, Friday September 17, at various stadia. Unlike the previous seasons, this time the league will be played on Fridays and Tuesdays to avoid colliding with the western leagues especially the premiership.

Express FC, KCC FC, URA and Bunamwaya are playing today while their counterpart SC Villa begins their league on Tuesday.
After missing the league title last season, Express FC is hosting URA in their opening game at Wankulukuku stadium.

Both clubs retained most of their dependable players of last season implying that with new signings, they could be rocks this season.

Express signed Chrysostom Ntambi as the main man to add on the old guns of Francis Jemba, Sulaiman Jingo and Noah Ssemakula who were the club's pivot last season.

The arrival of Paul Nkata as the head coach to replace Matia Lule who left to KCC was a boost to the club. When contacted, Coach Nkata said that his time is ready for not only this game but for all the encounters in their way to the league title. He added that last season Express FC performed well and in the new season they have to perform better.

URA coach, Alex Isabirye, vows that they are ready to crash anybody despite the loss of playmaker Mike Sserumaga to Bunamwaya. They further  signed Steven Bengo, Oscar Agaba, Simon Masaba, Dan Wagaluka, Feni Ali, Robert Odongnkara, and among others, in preparation for a show-down.
Henry Kisekka, Manko Kawesa, Derrick Walulya, Augustine Nsumba are the other top guns that will help Isabirye.

KCC are beginning their league campaign away in Jinja when they visit the Kakindu based Victors FC.

Victors FC are under the tutorship of former KCC Coach and player George 'Best' Nsimbe who knows KCC in and out. Therefore, on his first league game as coach of KCC FC, Matia Lule might not find it easy to win the game.

The league champions Bunamwaya FC, are beginning their campaign at home in Nakivubo as they host Masaka. This looks a weak fixture among all the big four clubs who are likely to fight for the title.

With all his players available for the game, Bunamwaya Coach Edward Ggolola is confident that with the arrival of Geoffrey Walusimbi and Mike Sserumaga, they will defend the title that they won for their first time. To defend their pride, Bunamwaya FC must win today's fixture against Masaka, a feat which is possible, according to Ggolola.

Police is hosting Proline/Nalubaale at Namboole stadium, CRO visiting Kinyara while in the new entrants, derby Maroons is hosting Gulu Utd.
