Muslim education in Uganda springs from Kibuli, a Kampala suburb, an area that had been allotted to Prince Nuhu Mbogo by the British following the 1900 Agreement.
Prince Mbogo, the son of Ssekabaka Suuna II was a leader of the Muslim community, and was commonly referred to as 'Kabaka for the Muslims'.

Bill Gates and Herbert Lwanga have two things in common; both are innovators and entrepreneurs. However, the two also contrast sharply; one is American, rich, famous. The other is Ugandan, broke, with a long journey to walk.
While in 2001 Gates was in New York launching a new Operating System, Windows XP, declaring that "this is a version of Windows that will take the PC industry to new heights," Lwanga was in Kampala begging government to fund his ideas.
Aged 21 then and pursuing a diploma in electrical and electronic engineering at Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo, Lwanga was able to convince the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (UNCST) to give him Ushs 5m to make four things: a proximity alarm, a level detector, a pulse detector and a remote control switch. He succeeded in making the items.
