As telecoms build subscriber numbers, quality dips

Contrary to expectations that increased competition witnessed in the telecommunication industry in recent months would lead to better quality services, The Sunrise reveals that there are growing complaints from customers about more interruptions in telephone services.

From failure to connect to the network, to dropped calls and other distressing messages such as 'the number you are calling doesn't exist', more Ugandans are getting frustrated with various telecommunications networks.

Linda Imongot, who operates a public telephone service along Jinja road in Kampala, told this reporter: "Many times I nearly run mad when I make a call on several networks and the people am calling keep telling me they are not hearing me and yet I can hear them on my end of the line."
