Face to face with death

Like all other devastating memories in life, the dreadful blast that we witnessed and narrowly survived at Kyadondo Rugby club on 11 July, is still as terrifyingly imprinted in our mind as if it just struck only seconds ago.
  
I (Daniel Tatya) and my colleague Henry Mulindwa had been assigned by The Sunrise news paper, the media house both of us work for, to cover the event which was expected to draw as it deed, multitudes to watch the ever first world cup final on African soil being shown on a giant screen amidst great raveling and everything that was expected to come with it.

 

Church covering up for sex offenders – DPP

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Dr. Richard Butera has called on security agencies and Ugandans at large to get rid of immoral church leaders who have gone on rampage defiling underage girls in the country, calling them agents of Lucifer who are out there to soil the Christian faith.  

The DPP passed an order of arrest to the Catholic priest from Nebbi Dioceses, who recently defiled two underage girls and possibly infected them with HIV/Aids, to answer charges of defilement and intentionally infecting minors with HIV/Aids.

 

ICC comes under scathing criticism

The International Criminal Court (ICC) which was officially established as a permanent tribunal on 11 March 2003 to prosecute individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression has come under severe criticism by a man who calls himself an experts on international law and humanitarian law as a court of incompetent  judges.

 

'Ugandans top adopters of agricultural biotech'

The first ever conference on agricultural biotechnology, bio-safety and seed systems was held in Kampala a fortnight ago and brought together more than 120 leading agricultural scientists, mainly from Africa,  but some from the rest of the world.

Dubbed the "Agrisofaseed 2010", the meeting was the brainchild of a number of Ugandan and East African agricultural organizations.
