ICC comes under scathing criticism

The International Criminal Court (ICC) which was officially established as a permanent tribunal on 11 March 2003 to prosecute individuals for genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression has come under severe criticism by a man who calls himself an experts on international law and humanitarian law as a court of incompetent  judges.

 

'Ugandans top adopters of agricultural biotech'

The first ever conference on agricultural biotechnology, bio-safety and seed systems was held in Kampala a fortnight ago and brought together more than 120 leading agricultural scientists, mainly from Africa,  but some from the rest of the world.

Dubbed the "Agrisofaseed 2010", the meeting was the brainchild of a number of Ugandan and East African agricultural organizations.

Peter Kimbowa lies whimpering on his back at Mulago Casualty Spine Ward section. He is one of those who got injured in last year's accident at Bulyantete along Kampala-Jinja road in which 25 people perished.

At the time of this accident, Kimbowa was a second year private student at Makerere University studying for Bachelor of Commerce degree. Since then, he has been grounded for one and half years, reeling in excruciating pain with the lower part of his body paralyzed.

Like Kimbowa, there are scores of people who have had their lives destroyed and dreams shuttered due to accidents.
 

Kibuli SS makes come back

Najib BogereKibuli's absence from the best-performing schools in UNEB examinations over the past five years seems to be coming to an end when one considers the school's superb performance in last year's UACE examination.

For the first time since the school got its new headmaster Hajj Ibrahim Matovu, Kibuli has featured among the schools whose students topped 2009's Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE).
