After scooping the award for the Best Artiste for African Traditional song in the just concluded AFRIMA awards which took place in Accra – Ghana on November 24, 2018.
Da New Eagles’ Diva Irene Namatovu has promised Uganda another BET award – after Eddy Kenzo’s which came in 2015.
The Nsambira nnyuma nga janzi singer revealed that she was quite shocked when she received the AFRIMA award because it was not something that she was expecting.
“I have been a silent follower of the AFRIMA awards. I didn’t know that the organisers and panellist were actually watching me,” Namatovu said.
She said her main focus now is to produce music that will see her win the Black Entertainment Television (BET) award which takes place in the United States of America.
In her category, Irene beat Teni from Nigeria, Bambino from Niger, Samake from Mali and many others.
