The Bayimba Regional Festival of Arts, an offshoot of the annual Bayimba International Festival of Music and Arts, heads to Mbarara this weekend for the western region leg.

This is part of the Bayimba Cultural Foundation's initiative to take the arts to the people and make the annual festival a national event. The first festival was held in May at Taks Centre in Gulu.

In Mbarara, at a gala to be held at Agip Motel, the musicians to feature include Queen Marion, General Agae, Miss Agie, Dj Ali, Ogaba Okufu, Florence Nsimenta, Agatha, Dj Mutyso, Scovia Ainomugisha, Baby Halima, Easy Man Adam, Lady Diana and Junior Clan.

At the same event, Choice talent from Kampala, will take the night's entertainment a notch higher. Karim Saava (Pictured) is expected to do his Luganda compositions while the feisty Rachel K will join in to rock the night in a  combination with the Taboo Flo Dance crew.

The night treat will be preceded by a day-time conference in which reknown arts journalist, Moses Serugo will give the region's artistes tips on how to market themselves in the media while Afro-pop diva, Julie Sessanga will offer advice on how artistes can explore the entertainment industry to their benefit.

The afternoon events will include a fashion show by Mbarara designer, Christine Mbabazi, a comedy show by Yusuf Kiyega and Baker Kijjambu, movie screenings by Amakula/Cinetoile and an art exhibition.

Entrance to the event is free.
