Iganga LC5 chairman blackmailed

Share

Statistics show that 50 per cent of the population in Iganga district are Moslems with the other religions sharing the remaining percentage among themselves.

This could be the reason why the area outgoing LC5 chairman is panicking.

Our political snoops in Busoga were wondering why Asuman Kyafu is running a campaign without his posters on the streets.

We initially thought that the man is doing this out of confidence that after all, he is set to win the elections. But alas, Grapevine has at last stumbled on t he explanation behind all this and it is………the poor fellow is a subject of what you can call political and conditional blackmail.

Apparently Kyafu's competitors have warned him that if he dares pin his posters along  the streets, they will in turn pin photographs of him which were taken while he was drinking beers. Doing this to a muslim would indeed be bad news considering that this is a period of fasting!

And this is how the muslim population in the area is bound to swing out of Kyafu's favour. Flashing photos of him taking beer would depict Kyafu to be a person who doesn't  respect the laws of his religion.

Our snoops tell us that Kyafu has even toned down on his verbal artillery against his opponents during his campaigns; talk about the advice not to throw stones when you know that you live in a glass house.

Although Rafiki is yet to see the said pictures, word has it that this threat has thrown a steel rod in Kyafu's campaign wheel to the extent that the man has even contemplated quitting running for any public office.
