House Vs Home in child upbringing
Quite a number of human behaviours can hardly be explained until we get back to the drawing board and trace people's history. The violent individuals could have a history very different from the peace loving and calm people.
An explanation as to why somebody will choose a lifestyle like recidivism, prostitution and the other similar behaviours can be fished from historical records. May be finding explanations to perplexing social problems open the door to the store of more explanations.
Growth is actually a process and not an event. Human growth is a medley of physical and intellectual aspects.
Parents need to know that intellectual aspects are more fragile and require serious attention and supervision. The first and the most important distinction to be made is the one between a home and a house.
The term home is placed out of context. We continue to raise children in houses under the pretext that they are in homes. A house is the structure / building that man or woman or both choose to put up for shelter.
This alone can't make it qualify to be a home. A home on the other hand simply means the emotional atmosphere brought into a house by the presence of a mother and father living in harmony. This is the environment most favourable for intellectual child upbringing.
The deviation and social aberrations we see today caution from the fact that vast majority of the people who deviate from the norms and get afflicted by social maladies are those who have never enjoyed the comfort of a home with all the good tidings from parents.
But in the industrial and Para industrial era both the father and the mother have to go for work in order to make ends meet and fend for the families. They both come back home late and worn out. The only thing they can afford to do is to rest and prepare for the following day's hassles.
Nannies and house keepers now come in as a replacement with the help of the TV. We can't be sure if a house girl can effectively play parenthood role. The Television is now the modern teacher and guardian to our children.
They can watch all adult programs ranging from pornographic to violent or war movies in the name of being entertained. A child's interpretation of what he or she watches on TV is worrying.
He is convinced that this is the way of life and he will definitely try it out.
A family characterized with domestic violence is most likely to raise a future husband who is violent and a future wife who is subversive and nagging.
Most successful women have attributed their success to their being close to their fathers from childhood.
Fathers have always been a good inspiration factor to the girl child. In the first place they provide the male company that adolescent girls are always looking for. This saves the girls from interacting with the wrong elements who may exploit them sexually.
They will also use their father character when trying to identify the right marriage partners. A girl will always look for a kind, caring and determined husband just like her father. This means fathers have a task of polishing up their behaviours and becoming good friends to their daughters.
The education has brought an alternative. Children are now taken to boarding schools where they spend most of their childhood years. This institutional family has not played the parental role still.
Instead children get even more confused especially with the mixture of cultures. This now leaves you to decide on how best you can balance employment and at the same time child upbringing
