Zak’s Awkward Ideas: MPs plot for another chance to eat sausages

Share
One thing that I have leant in life is that this planet that we live in will never run short of surprises. Can you imagine that in the latest scorecard assessment of the Members of Parliament it is said that the performance of these legislators in the august house has improved compared to the recent years! I am shocked!

Honestly all along I thought our legislators are only capable of eating sausages, fat salaries and nothing more. Oh may also doze off when Parliament is discussing certain issues that government wants to be passed and wake up to endorse those issues like Mzee inspired them to do a few years ago when he was campaigning for his sad term. Did I say sad term? Sorry, I actually wanted to say third term.

However I am told according to the report of African Leadership Institute, it seems these MPs have started pretending to put to good use the energy they scoop from our sausages and salaries that they feast on day and night.

I swear if these members of the august house had only known that we actually have no problem with them eating the sausages in that house as long as they supplement that with at least some thing that can make us think that they are doing something useful in that house, then they should have started performing about four years ago when we voted them into those seats.

Unfortunately they have started performing when they have just a few months to complete their term of office in that house which means overall they have eaten more sausages and fat salaries than add anything useful to this country. Those are some of the aspects that make me pity our country.

We vote people to go and help us do that work we have in Parliament and when they get there all that they do in the first three years is eat sausages and collect fat salaries and allowances, then in the last two years of their term in office all that they do is eat sausages again and also try to pretend to be doing what we sent them to do in that house.

Besides it is in the last two years that we are nearer to elections and most likely these MPs are performing just so that they may lure us into giving them another opportunity of eating sausages by voting them again into power but this time around twabategede and not even the AFLI reports will lure us into giving them another chance to eat our sausages. Obviously this only applies to those perpetual underperformers in the house but who all of a sudden seem to wake up in these last two years to perform.

By the way I think why these legislators take we the people that vote them into power for granted is because they think that we are not capable of taking up those seats that they have in Parliament but that is not the case.

That is why I want to assure those Ugandans in Parliament that we have so many capable people in Uganda like us that would have given them a run for their sausages only that we are too busy and have little time to engage them in campaigns. So when we send them to Parliament it is not that we cannot eat the sausages and swagger around town pretending to be members of Parliament but just that we cannot do everything and just leave them to do that on our behalf.

Unfortunately some of them are misusing that golden opportunity. They ought to be a little more careful with the seats we gave them or else we leave these things that have made us busy and come and represent ourselves in that house if they cannot do that on our behalf as they promised us to do.

Otherwise allow me stop here
