Share
After postponing holding the Bayimba festival from June to September 17-19 2010, everything is almost now ready for the big do according to information reaching us from the Bayimba Cultural Foundation. A good number of items are on the menu and artistes expected to showcase are anxiously fine-tuning their works.

This year's festival will yet again be a weekend celebration of the arts to include art & design, the literary arts, music and the stage arts; theatre, dance and comedy.

There will be eight performance venues at the National Theatre with the car park hosting live music performances while the open space at the front of the theatre will be the venue for the opening dance and exhibition space for festival partners.

The theatre foyer will host a visual arts exhibition to feature various artistes while the auditorium will have dance and drama performances plus movie screenings. The green room will be venue for  workshops while the theatre gardens will be transformed into a children's park complete with a laughter lab, Internet zone and restaurants.

The CICP space (former Alliance Francaise) will feature a photography exhibition by workshop participants while the dance floor, which usually plays host to the weekly jam session, will be venue for the silent/ headphone disco.

Some of the festival artistes lined up for this year include Tabu Flo urban dance crew, Jeckaki Band, Milege Afro Jazz Band, Latin Flavour dance troupe, Rachel K and The Uneven band, Sarah Ndagire, Karim Saava, Golden Gate Choir, Ssali Muserebende and Suzan Kerunen. Visiting artistes include Kenya's Makadem, DRC's Mista Poa, Zimbabwe's Vusa Mkhaya and Tanzania's Ashimba Maisha.
