A chameleon is one animal many of us envy. Knowingly or unknowingly, we envy not the chameleon's slowness, or its long snapping flash-like tongue, but its unique ability to merge itself with its surroundings (by the way, what's the real color of  a chameleon?)

Camouflage, is perhaps one thing that we all try to perfect so we can fit in different situations. We sometimes even admire people who can impersonate different personalities.

This is admirable if only you are an observer and not the one who is the victim of the impersonator especially when it comes to love and settling down. So how do you identify a chameleon when it comes to choosing a long term partner? The signs we are going to look at are not the so obvious; they are the psychic evaluated ones. Read on;-

Rebound partners
In the concise dictionary, rebound is described as "bounce back after hitting a hard surface". In the same dictionary is a phrase "on the rebound" which is followed by the following statement "while still distressed after the ending of a romantic relationship".

So a rebound partner is someone who has just got out of a serious relationship, is heart-broken and looking for the next shoulder to lean on.

If not carefully scrutinized, such a person can give you the impression that you are the only person to right all the previous wrongs. But the sad thing is that after the shock is over, so will the feelings that he/she had for you. In short, you are being used as a temporary shelter before the journey continues.

So, if you spot such a person, you better give them time; the best you can do is being friends with them. Give it sometime, a year or so, then start to slowly smuggle in your own feelings into his/her heart; but even then, better do this very carefully!

Too many friends of the opposite sex
If you don't want to contract chronic heart diseases, please avoid this kind of partner. This is because most of the time, your competitor will be camouflaged in this kind of person and because you will have allowed this situation to maintain, the cheating will go on right under your nose and sometimes you could even be aiding it unknowingly!

Fanatics of any kind
It doesn't matter which kind of fanatic this one is; they are all the same, be it at the workplace, in religion, in sports or politics. It really doesn't matter.

The problem with this kind is that you either join them or you are against them and if you become an obstacle to their obsession, you will be discarded at a stage when you can't be tolerated any more. In this class you can add the "perfectionists."

These would want you to do things the perfect way and will always strive to make you perfect when it's an open secret that "no one is perfect!" They would force you to run after the wind if a long time ago they tried a feat and accomplished it. Here, they will always rub it into your nose.

Out of  your class
All the great and sad stories of love in history are tragic. This is because somewhere, someone ignored this golden rule. The story in Titanic film is not unique and has been played over and over again.

But the simple truth is that class, castes and other social differences always come with a lot of  baggage in the name of love and more often than not the pressure is always too much for love to bear. The end result is always a tragedy. Perfectionists are no 1 wind chasers.

Pretentious baby loving persons
This is a technique that is inherited from our ancestors, the apes. It has been observed that when a mischievous ape wants to do something or has done something bad, it usually picks a baby as it runs away; this way it disarms the punisher and it escapes the deserved punishment.

Likewise, it has been discovered that most of the terrible people in this world had a public show of love for children. This naturally deactivates us and instead of focusing on them, we focus on their act of child loving!

The usual suspects
I mean all those categories of people your mamma warned you about; the drunkards, the tomboys (people with identity problems).  Personally, I would never want to tag at the tail of someone who has a dirty record.

Lastly, I would advice that when you want to look for someone to have a long partnership with, try and do two things: first, let not your heart decide, leave the decision to your head (the heart is not so smart); secondly, make sure that the person you have chosen is not someone you can live with, but rather, it's someone who you can't live without!
