The executive director of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has called on the local community to continuously show awareness and cherish the country's rich tourism potential and work to promote it whenever they can.

In a press conference Baguma Cuthbert, UTB's executive director, called for the public's collective  action in matters connected with the country's tourist attraction sites stressing that the tourism sector is public-driven.

He disclosed that the tourism sector can cover up abrupt economic recesses and is a bedrock of various entities such as  hotels and airlines, Baguma said, "The sector withers away cycles of fluctuations and increases occupancy levels in hotels. The sellers of art-crafts, foods and beverages sections are also beneficiaries."
Baguma emphasized  the need to re-envigorate public interest in  touurism and called on media practitioners to continue providing information about the  industry.
