Members of the NRM Youth League have written to the party’s disciplinary committee demanding for his dismissal of Secretary General, it is reported, borrowed Shs400m from a loan shark in 2010 to compile the registers but has since never paid back because the party has since refused to give her the money, which has now accumulated to more than Shs3b.
The youth also claim Mbabazi is holding secret meetings with some members of NRM, contrary to the party’s constitution.
They youth join a chorus of key NRM leaders who have demanded for the removal of Mbabazi from the party’s Secretary General Job.
Mr Mike Mukula, the Soroti Municipality MP was recently quoted by Daily Monitor, urging Mbabazi to leave the Secretary General’s job since he had lost the moral ground to sit on the party’s high command.
Other key NRM figures who have asked Mbabazi to resign include David Bahati the Ndorwa West MP and the NRM deputy chief whip.
Last month, President Museveni sacked Mbabazi from the prime minister job replacing him with Dr Ruhakana Rugunda in a lone reshuffle that only affected the Kinkiza West MP.
However, Mbabazi has severally been quoted, saying he was still the NRM Secretary General and would work torwads consolidating the party,s programme.
According to the NRM constitution, Mbabazi can only be dismissed at a sitting of the party’s national conference.
