The Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhao Yali, has said that the major pillar in the development of a country is stability. Ambassador Yali made the remarks while donating various items to Uganda Police Force at the Police Headquarters in Naguru on Monday.
Yali said: “Without stability nothing can be archived because it’s the prerequisite for development in every state. This includes unity, because according to the experience I have, in my country China, for over 35 years, stability has been very crucial.”
Yali donated to Police 200 Huawei Y6 model Smart phones, 50 4-inch mattresses, ten motorcycles, five Lenovo laptops, ten footballs and some T-shirts. The Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura witnessed the donation.
Yali called for unity among all the ethnic groups in the country for peace and harmony to prevail, and as a prerequisite for Uganda to achieve 2020 middle-income status goal.
Ambassador Yali hailed the Police for ‘playing a very crucial role’ of preserving the stability, tranquility and peace in the country.
While appreciating the Chinese envoy, Gen. Kayihura said: “Most people pretend that they are concerned with security of a country, yet they just throw stones and mud at you. This is not the first time China has donated to us”.
He said that sometime ago, the Chinese helped in the Construction of the Naguru Centre for Children as well as the redesign of the Police Headquarters.
