As part of their efforts to cement their warm and growing ties with Uganda, the Republic of Korea hosted, over 300 notable persons in Uganda’s political, business, and diplomatic community to a sumptuous dinner to mark their National Day Celebrations recently. The fête was held at the Residence of South Korea’s Ambassador Park Jong Dae in Nakasero.
The endless flow of beers, wines and soft drinks was punctuated with speeches and performances by a HipHop group from Korea and exchanges of pleasantries between Foreign Affairs Minister Sam Kuteesa and his host Ambassador Park Jong Dae and other guests who graced the event.
It is the 6th national celebrations party by South Korea in Uganda since the Asian economic power house re-established their diplomatic ties with Uganda. As he prepares to end his tour of duty in Uganda, many people expressed mixed views of sadness and joy that Amb. Park is leaving. Many toasted to Uganda’s enormous achievements during his term, which The Sunrise has covered extensively over that period.
