Lining up for LC Elections around the country

Ugandans line up for LC Elections around the country recently

The July 10 LC1 Polls did not end well in Kinawataka Zone, Nakawa Division, Kampala District. Moses Lukwitira, who had been the sitting chairperson until that day, declared himself victorious before votes could be counted.  Lukwitira tried to open his office yesterday but was attacked by an irate mob.  The Police had to use tear gas to rescue him.

Residents say that during the polls, Siraji Higenyi had four lines of voters behind him while Moses Lukwitira had only one line. This prompted Lukwitira’s supporters to disrupt the election which was obviously being won by Higenyi.
