Muhammadu Buhari has been declared today Wednesday 27th Feb 2019 as Nigeria’s re-elected president by the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission Mahmood Yaubu.

His victory came after a delayed poll that triggered political violence, with claims of vote rigging that led to 53 deaths and prevented many from casting their votes.

The 76-year old has secured a second four year’s term with 56% of votes with victory from 19 states followed by his rival Atiku Abubakar with 42% from 17 states.

According to Osita Chidoka, a representative of the PDP and its defeated candidate Abubakar, they believe there was vote rigging and therefore reject and disagree with Buhari’s victory.

“We will explore all options, including the belief that the legal process in Nigeria is one of the ways to resolve issues,” he asserted.
