Mityana gets new Bishop

Dr. Bukomeko James is Bishop-elect of Mityana Diocese

Rev. Dr. James Bukomeko has been elected by the House of Bishops of the Church of Uganda to succeed Dr. Steven Kaziimba Mugalu as the new Bishop of Mityana Diocess. This comes after Dr. Kaziimba was elevated to become the Archbishop of the Church of Uganda.

51-year old Dr. Bukomeko was born in Luwero and is married with five children. Before being elevated, Dr. Bukomeko was serving in the archdeaconary of Nansana.

Dr. Bukomeko will be consecrated as the 5th bishop of Mityana diocese on February 2, 2020, while Dr. Kaziimba will be consecrated on March 1, 2020 as Archbishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda.

Dr. Kazimba automatically becomes the Bishop of Kampala diocese and will be installed on March 8, for that office.

During the same meeting, the House of Bishops elected Rev.Okunya Charles as the new Bishop of Kumi.
