MTN appreciates Uganda’s Olympic team with UGX175m cash prizes

MTN hands over dummy cheque for his gold gold medal


MTN Uganda has extended a gesture of appreciation and gratitude to Uganda’s entire Olympic team of athletes by giving different cash prizes at a ceremony held today.

MTN CEO Wim Vanhellepute handed out the dummy cheques to the winners as well as other members of the team and five coaches, noting that the prizes were not only an appreciation to the team but also a celebration of their support to sport in Uganda.

Uganda was represented by 17 competitors, 5 coaches and three administrators.

MTN gave the gold medalists Joshua Cheptegei and Peruth Chemutai UGX50m each, UGX10m to Jacob Kiplimo who won bronze and UGX2m to the rest of the runners even though they didn’t win.

The coaches received UGX1.5m each for their efforts and stewardship.

Cheptegei also received UGX25M for winning a silver in 10,000m.

On Wednesday this week president Museveni brand new luxury cars worth hundreds of millions of Uganda Shillings to only the three medalists.
