Jungen Klopp’s Liverpool have erased a streak of recent disappointment with victory over Tottenham Hotspurs and become the kings of European football.

Liverpool took early advantage with a penalty that was converted by Egyptian and Liverpool top striker Mohammed Salah in the second minute of the game.

Liverpool narrowly missed out on the English premiership title a fortnight ago when Mancheter City won the title on last day. Jungen Klopp’s men were also itching to erase last year’s champions league finals loss to Real Madrid.

The victory means they have won European football’s most prestigious trophy a record sixth time.

Spurs failure to capitalise on Liverpool’s sluggishness in the first half was ruthlessly punished when substitute Divock Origi ensured manager Jurgen Klopp won his first trophy as Liverpool manager by driving low and powerfully past Hugo Lloris with three minutes left.
