I am not prince Ssemakokiro's mom

caption smallIt has emerged that the alleged photo of the mother of the new born crown prince of Buganda Richard Ssemakokiro

which appeared in the two government dailies Bukedde and New Vision, was fake.

The person shown in the photo that appeared in the two dailies of January 25, is of Barbara Patience Kirabo, who says she has no relation whatsoever with the youngest prince of Buganda and son of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

In a press conference held at the National Theatre on Thursday, Kirabo, a resident of Wasswa Zone in Makindye division, says she was defamed by the unauthorised publication of her photo by the two sister dailies.

Appearing with her lawyers from Muwema and Co. Advocates, Kirabo said: “I have never slept with Kabaka or had any relationship with him, nor do I intend to have one with him.”

Kirabo said her photo was taken on January 21, 2011 when they had a family day out at Kakiri in Wakiso district.

Kirabo told the press that she has been in a relationship with a man, with whom she has a child and that they were planning to formalise their marriage in March this year. As it turns out, lawyers say that following the false claim that Kirabo had mothered a baby with Kabaka, her fiancé called it quits, for fear of competing with the Kabaka.

Because of the implications of the publication, Kirabo wants over Ushs 500 million from Vision Group, as compensation for the damage to her reputation.

Officials from Mengo also dismissed the published photo and added that they are still performing cultural rituals on the biological mom of Ssemakokiro before she appears in the public.
