AFLI exposes non-performing MPs

The African Leadership Institute (AFLI) released the third parliamentary score card since 2007 which indicated that Prof. Gilbert Bukenya, Busiro North MP, attended only two of the total 96 sittings of the house while Gen. David Tinyefunza, Brig. Francis Okello and Col. Ramadhan Kyamulesire, all army MPs did not attend a single sitting.

Star performers included among others; Denis Hamson Obua, Peter Mutuluuza, and Dr. Chris Baryomunsi.
The score card measured MPs on performance in plenary and committees, as well as programmes executed in their constituencies.

 

Review: IGG attacked over NSSF probe

The MPs on the parliamentary committee on commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises who were investigating mismanagement of the National Social Security Fund, accused the Inspector General of Government, Raphael Baku, of being used by some high profile politicians to fail their efforts.

Speaker Edward Ssekandi, ordered the IGG to back off the prosecution of the suspects involved in the alleged mismanagement at NSSF until the committee was done with its investigations on the matter.
 

Suubi 2011 causes rout in Masaka

Suubi 2011, a pressure group led by Mengo -leaning DP politicians, held its first rally in Masaka town amid protests from Democratic Party (DP) mainstream members who stormed the function with placards expressing support for party president Norbert Mao.

The pro-Mao group interfered with Nambooze's speech causing the commotion.
In her speech, Nambooze had called for support of single opposition candidates in the 2011 polls contrary to DP's official position.
 

Muslim Council axes Mubajje

The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council top organ, The General Assembly, suspended Mufti Sheik Shaban Mubajje basing on a damning report from the council vice-chairman, Ahmed Wadrif, following a January-February probe.

The probe found that Mubajje had become autocratic, despotic and dictatorial at the council.

Earlier, Bassajjabalaba, the Council Chairman suspended Mubajje, a move Mubajje countered by also suspending Basajjabalaba over commissioning an investigation against him.Mubajje said the investigation was biased.
