The African Development Bank (EADB) signed a Ush175b contract with the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) to help erect a new and larger sewerage plant in Kampala.
The plant that would be operational by 2012 would treat about 45 million litres of both sewage and water discharge per day.

Telecom market leader MTN and archrivals Zain and Uganda Telecom, announced massive cuts in tariff plans following an earlier spark by Warid Telecom that slashed its rates to Ush5 per second.
