Ssekikubo charged with theft
Lwemiyaga MP, Theodore Ssekikubo's political future is facing uncertainty following the violence in Ssembabule which was marred by gun violence and bloodshed.
Following the violence, Ssekikubo was charged with possessing an illegal firearm, obstructing police as well as stealing a plastic basin and pens.
The Ssembabule violence happened as the NRM was electing members for its district committees. More incidents of violence were reported in many other parts of the country. Ssekikubo's patience ran out after his arch rival and Foreign Affairs Minister, Sam Kuteesa, allegedly kept most delegates away from being accessed by his rivals such as Ssekikubo.
Drama ensued when Ssekikubo who was armed with a pistol, ordered that district elections could not go on when Lwemiyaga sub-county elections had not been conducted.
Election officials however did not heed to Ssekikubo's directives which prompted him to throw election materials from the table as officials fled for dear life.
Obel faced charges of abuse of office and causing financial loss of over sh7b to the fund. He was also accused of having engaged in business with Mugoya Estates Ltd without subjecting them to a competitive pre-qualification and without carrying out any feasibility study and profitability of the said venture.
The boat was heading northwards from Hoimo landing site to Panyamur market in Nebbi district, an eight-hour journey.
Hoima Police Station officer in charge, Romeo Ojara, said the accident was caused by overloading.
The court relied on affidavits adduced by MPs Gertrude Chelangat, Francis Kiyonga, Herbert Sabila and Chris Baryomunsi.

In 2008, Kakoma sued the Government for recovery of damages, compensation and royalties for infringement of copyright at sh5.2b, which justice Yorokamu Bamwine said was "astronomical and extortionist" while passing his judgment.
Bamwine also ordered that on payment, Kakoma effectively "signs off the residue of his interest in the copyright", which would make the anthem an exclusive property of the state.
At the peak of an inquest into the misuse of sh500b in Chogm funds, Public Accounts Committee ordered ICT ministry to recover Chogm phones from, ministers, MPs and other senior government officials after it emerged that out of 291 Chogm phones, 235 devices were still unaccounted for.

Onegi Obel sent to Luzira
Former National Social Security Fund board chairman, Geoffrey Onegi Obel, was remanded to Luzira Prison after his bail was cancelled by the Chief Magistrate of the Anti-Corruption Court.Obel faced charges of abuse of office and causing financial loss of over sh7b to the fund. Lake Albert disaster kills 70
Seventy-three people were feared dead after their boat capsized on Lake Albert.The mishap occurred at Kakoma in Runga village, Hoima district.The boat was heading northwards from Hoimo landing site to Panyamur market in Nebbi district, an eight-hour journey.

40 MPs hold on to Chogm phones
