Basajja secretly receives government disbursements

Government had secretly been paying businessman Hassan Basajjabalaba, part of the Ush46b he claimed in compensation for city markets that were leased to his company and then taken back.
Media sources indicated that government promised to pay Basajjabalaba's Haba Group of CompaniesUsh46b in compensation for the two cancelled leases on Owino and Nakasero markets in downtown Kampala.

Traders of Kisekka market lost property when an infernal engulfed over 40 shops and destroyed property worth billions of shillings.
The fire that started from the western wing of the market was said to have been caused by an electrical short circuit, according to the police.

Kisekka market chairman, Tadeo Mugerwa, said at least 70 traders also closed their shops due to the incident.

URA puts Mike Ezra under siege
The Commissioner General of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Allen Kagina, asked the Ministry of Internal Affairs to bar Mike Ezra, from traveling abroad pending settlement of over Ush1.1b he owed the Government in taxes.
