Rival parties Jubilate as DP divisions deepen

Share
The melodrama within the Democratic Party (DP) hit a crescendo as a one Sebaana Kizito led faction flouted Semogerere's counsel to hold a delegates conference in Mbale in which Hajji Nasser Ntege Ssebaggala was trounced by Norbert Mao.

Crying foul, Ssebaggala forthwith rejected the election results in a press conference he called one day later citing electoral malpractices; a reason for which  he is now threatening to form a new party.

The state of affairs, according to some analysts marked yet a new epoch of renewed ramifications, which if not reversed, will lead to the final demise of the party, more so, now that another faction led by Reina Kafiire and Joseph Mukiibi is threatening to go ahead with plans to hold another delegates conference on the 24th of April 2010 after dismissing the previous one as null and void.

On top of consolidating his grip at the party's helm which includes winning a national appeal for his candidature, Pundits have said that, Norbert Mao ought to pay more keener attention to the embarrassing challenges in the party at the moment namely; healing the growing disunity amongst the member, winning back Ssebagala's estranged faction as well as negotiating a favorable deal for (DP) in the Inter-party Cooperation (IPC) as part of the way forward.
