Buganda marks week of mourning
Buganda marked a full week of mourning the Kasubi Tombs which were gutted by fire last week, the mourning was characterised by the donning Kanzu's (white tunics) without coats, bark cloth arm and waist bands by loyalists.
Opportunistic traders around down town made a kill selling backcloth arm and waist bands to the mostly zealous Baganda buyers who donned the attire at Kasubi and through out the week of mourning.
The first day of mourning saw the temporary closure of Kasubi and Nakulabye Markets.
The President was keen to hear some one say it publicly and he lets them face the music as he instructed security forces to scan all tapes, radios and media because the slander was denting his Government's image.
The local currency hit it's lowest trading at 2,135/2,140 compared to the previous week's lowest close of 2,085/2,090, a trend attributed to a general rise in demand from the energy and telecom sectors and interbank trading.

Rumours irk Museveni

Shilling maintains steady down low

It was hands off Rukiga County for NRM
The Rukiga County by-election was won by NRM's Adison Kakuru garnering 10,910 votes from four sub-counties, closely followed by FDC candidate who collected 9,329 votes while independent Amos Mugisha got 6,786 votes and Mr Medard Gumisiriza, also an independent candidate, trailed with 291 votes.The by-election was timely and significant as a measure of strength between the FDC and NRM following their face-off in Mbale Municipality by-election a month ago that was taken by FDC.

Supreme Court opts to splash Shs 90m monthly on rent
