National Development Plan launched
President Yoweri Museveni launched the five year [2010-2014/15] national development plan formulated by the National Planning Authority [NPA].The plan was meant to guide the transformation of Uganda from a peasant to a modern and prosperous country within 30 years.
The planning framework was being launched 40 years after the last one and Sh 54 trillion was needed to implement the plan.
In the communiqué, Sarcozy proposed development of infrastructure in the great lakes region an idea which was vehemently supported by Museveni.
The Ugandan President welcomed the call to raise funds for the development of the infrastructure sector as well as making good use of the energy capabilities in the region.
Serena opens second hotel in Uganda
The new hotel, Lake Victoria Serena Resort, formerly belonged to Ranch on the Lake Hotel four years ago when the Serena Group bought it. The resort is part of the Aga Khan economic empire and the improved facility cost $20m [about sh 40b].Another $ 30m [sh 60b] was projected to complete the project.
A survey by a US-based Pew Research Centre indicated that twenty percent of Ugandans -about six million people, believed in witchcraft or the protective power of sacrifices to spirits or ancestors.
The Survey, conducted by the organization however, also showed that Uganda was one of the most religious countries in the world, with nearly nine out of 10 people believing in Christianity or Islam.
Exporters of fresh fruits, vegetables and flowers were also among the agro producers who faced the brunt of the flights' cancellation.
The Minister had gone to the committee to account for money used during the CHOGM summit in November 2007. Committee chairman, Nandala Mafabi informed the Minister that his team had waited for ten minutes and she was not available.
The Priest was also reported to have forced another 14-year-old girl into sex last year. Being a capital offense, his case was upgraded from simple to aggravated defilement.

French President sends missive to Museveni

HIV Catholic Cleric arrested on rape
A senior Catholic priest from Nebbi district, Wapokura, 45 and HIV positive, was arrested by Police on allegations of defiling a 14-year-old girl, who served in the Church.The Priest was also reported to have forced another 14-year-old girl into sex last year. Being a capital offense, his case was upgraded from simple to aggravated defilement.
