Zzimwe, Obua pass on
Construction Company Chief, Andrew Kasagga who has been popularly known as Zzimwe died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 63. Kasagga had received treatment from hospitals in South Africa and India.
He had accumulated a fortune estimated at Ug.Shs 20 billion, having been contracted by the government of Uganda, Kenya and Kampala City Council to handle a number of construction projects that were marred by accusations of shoddy work and delays.
The focus of the questions was why Bukenya authorised sh 13.9b for Munyonyo Common wealth Resort, his role in the sh 9b procurement of the BMW cars, and why the road to his Garuga Hotel was graded using CHOGM funds.
Bukenya lashed out at the MPs journalists and the Auditor General, John Muwanga, whom he accused of picking on him.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at BAI Hospital along Martin Road in Old Kampala.
Obua featured in the Uganda Cranes in the 1970s, an ex-international, coach, FUFA head, and chairman of CECAFA.
Reining FUFA President Lawrence Mulindwa, described him as a positive man who put working together ahead of differences on football matters.
The new notes came as the first major change of currency in over 20 years. The Surprise note was the 2,000 denomination which was meant to improve divisibility of the shilling.
BoU governor, Tumusiime Mutebile, advised the public not to rush to commercial Banks to exchange the old notes with the new ones.
Diaspora community debates IPC candidate
Ugandans in the Diaspora joined the debate on search for the joint opposition candidate ahead of the 2011 presidential elections.
Social networking media Twitter, facebook and Ugandans at Heart among others were being used to qualify the most suitable Flag bearer for the Inter-Party Cooperation [IPC].
A move described as a deliberate effort to draw broader consensus on the eventual joint candidate, saw Dr.Kizza Besigye [FDC] and Olara Otunu [UPC] emerge as top contenders as DP's Norbert Mao drew admirers though DP did not subscribe to the activities of the IPC.
Details from the Budget Framework Paper- a blue -print of the next budget indicated that as a result of the budget cuts, reproductive health supplies, Insulin to cater for diabetic patients, anti-cancer treatment and mental health drugs, were not to be procured during the financial year.
The cut was attributed to reduced donor project support and reduction of non-tax revenue.
Museveni attacked over new districts
Opposition party leaders have argued that President Museveni is creating many districts in order to stay longer in power.
FDC party activists, Jack Sabiiti and Major John Kazoora said that by creating many districts, the President was aiming at expanding the number of Resident District Commissioners to project his interests. Soccer legend Obua dies
Dennis Obua, 63 suffered a stroke and collapsed as he watched ex-internationals train at Nakivubo stadium -the pitch on which he displayed his playing skills in his playing days.He was pronounced dead on arrival at BAI Hospital along Martin Road in Old Kampala.
