Suubi 2011 causes rout in Masaka
Suubi 2011, a pressure group led by Mengo -leaning DP politicians, held its first rally in Masaka town amid protests from Democratic Party (DP) mainstream members who stormed the function with placards expressing support for party president Norbert Mao.
The pro-Mao group interfered with Nambooze's speech causing the commotion.
In her speech, Nambooze had called for support of single opposition candidates in the 2011 polls contrary to DP's official position.
URA officials clarified that import Duty had been removed but any other taxes due on the goods, for example Value Added Tax, Exercise , Withholding tax where applicable, were payable.

Common market stays taxes
The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) dismissed the notion among local traders that they were no longer required to pay taxes for goods sold within East Africa after the region's Common Market protocol became operational on July 1.URA officials clarified that import Duty had been removed but any other taxes due on the goods, for example Value Added Tax, Exercise , Withholding tax where applicable, were payable.

EC grilled over 70 bank accounts
