I wish we were all Moslems

Don't be misled into thinking that in saying what you are reading here, I am targeting Sheikh Ramathan Mubajje's post now that he has been suspended from office.

I am neither after joining Supreme Mufti Zubair Kayongo's faction.

I am a staunch and principled catholic and I don't regret it because it's this belonging which has enabled me to meet and work with respected people such as the cardinal, bishops and priests in the Catholic Church.

Non-moslems should not think that I am against them but in certain cases, you have to concede defeat.

I may not be able to change my religion nor its norms but I have recognized certain principles in the Muslim culture which, I propose, should be copied and practiced by non-moslems.

Male circumcision
Whenever the topic of circumcising males is tabled, it generates a heated debate among uncircumcised men simply because the latter do not support it.

You may even hear some men debating whether or not Jesus Christ was circumcised.

But in the interest of hygiene and good health, the government of Uganda, through its Health Ministry, is encouraging men to go for circumcision. It also has a program to circumcise the newly born male babies.

The reasons for all this is that circumcision does away with bad smell, reduces  one's chances of being infected with  diseases like HIV and contracting cancer.

Circumcision, earlier meant for moslems and some tribes from eastern Uganda, is now steadily gaining currency in our society.

Some women have been heard swearing never to have sex with uncircumcised men.

Polygamy
Christians and some women are opposed to polygamy while moslems take it to be one way of fighting adultery among married couples.

In several non-polygamous marriages, conflicts are common with spouses accusing each other of adultery.

The Moslem community has a solution for this when they provide for a man to marry more than one wife and a maximum of four as long as he can satisfy both their body and material requirements.

While non-moslem women suffer battery and death on denying their hubbies sex, this is not common among moslems.

Toilet and water

Apart from the conducting of five prayers a day, if there is anything else which best describe a home household, it's the kettle or small jerry cans usually placed either on verandas or put inside toilets.

There is even a saying which goes,"obuzabuza ng'o musiramu akutte ebbinika, olowooza agenda kukufumbira caayi, so nga abeera agenda manju"  literally translated that visiting a moslem's homestead, you can be misled by the woman of the house action of picking a kettle and you think she is going to prepare for you tea yet she will only be going to visit the toilet.

Among non-moslems, using a piece of toilet paper is enough and only a few of them  wash their hands after visiting a toilet.

We all know that living in unhygienic conditions causes a number of diseases such as diarrhea, cholera and.

A ministry of health sensitization campaign has resulted into some  people adopting the hither-to Moslem culture of taking ablution (wudhu).

Asalam Alaykum (peace be upon you)

When moslems meet, they wish each other peace (Asalam Alaykum). It's the vocal expression of brotherhood among moslems that makes them always ready to come to the aid of their brothers/sisters in religion at any time.

If such a brotherhood could as well be expressed among Christians all would be well for mankind.

Instant burying

In the past, it was only moslems who used to bury their dead the very day such people passed away.

In the present times, the people who will have died of contagious diseases like cholera, ebola and bird flu call for instant burial. Also due to time and other constraints, many people have adopted  this culture.

No alcohol

Alcoholism is a serious addiction which has caused serious problems to different people at different levels.

Many people have died in accidents due to drunken driving. Moslems abhor drinking and should be emulated.

It's because of the above that I am of the opinion that non-moslems should also adopt the behavior practices of moslems.
