LCs more important than MPs

Share

One can't understand why the LC system was halted and yet the LCs were doing a commendable job. Some people who thought that the LC system was a Movement machinery fought relentless battles in courts of law to ensure that we had no more LCs. But that said, the LCs are more important than any other government official because they maintain a clear record of all their subjects, and are quick to arbitrate village cases.

The LCs are better mobilisers of people. If you wanted anything to be implemented, you would just go through the LCs as they alone know where to find their people. The LCs are better enforcers of security in their areas of jurisdiction.

Let's police ourselves to minimize attacks

In the wake of the terrorist attacks that rocked Kampala and its suburb on the night of July 11, 2010, a huge debate about the security fate of our country has been stirred across the country.

Across section of people are already up- in -arms; imploring government to remove the  Ugandan  Peace keeping troops  from Somali lest the alleged assailants-Al-Shabaab- launch another fatal attack on us.

There're also those who are bitter that government hid important information regarding warnings that were reportedly made to Uganda's security agencies about an impending attack.

Bazungu becoming more backward than Africans?

Share
It's intriguing that people who brought civilization to the world, and more so to Africa, are the ones who are resorting to uncivilized and backward practices, such as superstition.

The use of octopuses to predict the outcomes of the World Cup is nothing but pure superstition and a sign that they've not crossed any borders of civilization. What is the difference between this and myths such as it being a bad omen if one met a cat in the morning?

Not only this but the bazungu now move naked! When they first came to Africa, they reproved us for wearing skins, leaves and backcloths.

Conmen on the loose!

Early last week, I received a phone call from a one "Eng. Patrick" who wanted to offer me a deal. When I enquired about his identity, he wondered at how I could forget him so easily, to the point of even not recognizing his voice.

I feigned knowledge of him and he told me of how he had previously worked with National Water and later moved to work in France for two years. He continued that he is now with Tullow Oil. He seemed to know me well, and I wondered at how he acquired my phone number.
