Club Guvnor should also be held responsible for the death of their patron

Johnnie Ahimbisibwe lost his life at Club Guvnor

It is on a sad note that a life of a young man was wasted away in a club where people go to chill and have fun with friends. While the police arrested the person responsible they left out another party the management of Club Guvnor which I believe should also be held responsible for the death that occurred.

I believe Johnnie Ahimbisibwe’s life was lost not only because he was stabbed in the head with a broken glass by his assailant, Ivan Kamyuka but also because there was a case of negligence on the part of the club where he was stabbed from.

There is a reason why clubs employ bouncers and that is to maintain an ambiance of peace and security within the club. But to think that a brawl erupted in such a city club without an intercession of the security goes to say the type of insecurity that there is in the clubs we have in Uganda.

Revelations from the CCTV camera show that it was Ahimbisibwe who first made an attack by hurling a glass at his assailant who also picked part of the broken piece of glass which he used to stab Ahimbisibwe.

The mere act of Ahimbisibwe throwing a glass at his assailant as the club’s CCTV camera indicated was enough to attract the club’s security’s attention and this act would have called for his forceful exit.

But because he was considered by the club as one of its regulars and a rich patron they ignored this act which eventually led to his death.
Therefore if am to blame anyone, I would put the blame squarely on Club Guvnor.

This death, I beleive, would have been avereted if only the security had intervened and put an end to these people’s confrontation in the first place before it turned fatal.
