I.    INTRODUCTION:

The Sunrise started as a weekly newspaper in September 2000 coming out every Friday. Since then we have expanded into online publishing with an open freely accessible, dynamic and interactive website.

Our desire is to make a contribution and to play a role in Uganda’s development by supporting all the efforts towards economic emancipation, democracy and national unity.

That is why The Sunrise both (print and online) promotes business activities in Uganda, promotes culture and highlights human-interest activities and encourages debate.

We are proud to say that we’re a vibrant and reputable newspaper whose readership has been growing over the years. Our print circulation too has expanded over the years in terms of printed copies as well as geographical reach. This attracted a number of reputable commentators from the political, economic and social spheres to contribute articles which are published both in the print and on the online version.

Ownership

The Sunrise is a private and independent media organisation that endeavours to be as objective as possible without compromising the values for which it stands, these include: truth, accuracy, fairness, and impartiality.

Like all serious news organisations, our major functions remain to inform, educate, entertain, analyse and mobilise people for national development.
