Busoga starts Ekisakati

Cultural leaders in Busoga subregion have emulated their Buganda counterparts by initiating a programme for instilling morals and cultural norms into children.

The programme dubbed Ekyoto was on Friday officially opened by Butembe hereditary prince Yasin Ntembe Waguma at Good Heart S.S in Bugembe town council under Butembe Cultural Development Foundation.

According to chief Ntembe, and coexistence.

Martha Kisansa, a senior three student at Good Heart SS in Jinja and one of the 35 beneficiaries appreciated the first lesson that was conducted by Rev Canon Daniel Kiiza on why cultural values are important to the young people; the role of culture in the modern world saying they were taught positive cultural practices like kneeling.

The overall programme coordinator Christine Babirye Magala says the programme started with Butembe chiefdom but will later spread throughout Busoga Kingdom and attract more young people.

This might be a strong step in reuniting the troubled Busoga kingdom which has for five years been mingled in turmoil due to lack of a substantive Kyabazinga.
