Uganda beats Nigeria to reach quarter finals of AfroBasket tourney
Great victory for our boys despite the financial snub they received from the government
Uganda’s National Basketball team the Silver Backs have defied the odds to beat Nigeria 80 – 68 to qualify for the quarter final of the continental basketball tournament dubbed the Afrobasket.
This is the first time that Uganda has reached this level of the tournament.
The Silver Backs went into the game with a debt that almost caused their elimination. But the guys put all that humiliation behind them to record a major upset – by beating the Nigerians for the first time, and book a place in the tournament that is being played in Rwanda’s capital Kigali.
