State Minister for Industry, Hon. David Bahati, on Friday conducted an oversight visit to Najjera Business Hub in Kampala to assess production processes, identify challenges affecting manufacturers, and explore areas where government support can enhance productivity and value addition.

During the visit, Bahati toured several manufacturing facilities operating within the business hub and commended investors for their contribution to value addition, job creation, and support for the Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) initiative.

“This hub not only adds value to our raw materials but employs over 200 Ugandans and continues to strengthen Uganda's export potential,” Bahati said after the tour.

The minister reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting value chains, particularly in cocoa, coffee, and other locally available raw materials, as part of efforts to drive industrial growth and economic prosperity.

Najjera Business Hub is home to several manufacturing companies, including ADMA International, Nova Plastic Packaging Ltd, and SAMCO Plastics. The companies produce a range of products such as plastics, packaging materials, high-end liquid soaps, animal feeds, and other value-added products.

Bahati assured manufacturers that the government will continue working closely with the private sector to address challenges affecting the industry and create an environment that enables businesses to expand, improve productivity, and add value to Uganda's raw materials.

The visit forms part of the government's routine industrial oversight programme aimed at assessing the performance of industries, identifying policy and operational bottlenecks, and strengthening collaboration between government and manufacturers.

According to the Ministry, such engagements provide feedback that helps inform interventions to promote industrialisation, increase value addition, create jobs, and advance Uganda's goal of building a resilient and competitive manufacturing sector.
