Former Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs Balaam Barugahara has announced that DNA testing has officially begun following the exhumation of the remains of the late Ugandan musician Prince Paul Kafeero.
The development marks a major step in resolving a long-standing paternity dispute involving more than 20 young people, a case that has remained unresolved for over 20 years.
According to Barugahara’s communication, the exhumation of the remains was carried out this morning under a court order to facilitate DNA sampling aimed at establishing scientific clarity in the dispute.
The exercise was conducted by a professional team of pathologists led by Assistant Inspector General of Police Dr. Byaruhanga, in accordance with established forensic procedures and court directives.
The collected samples will now be analyzed by the Government Analytical Laboratory and the Uganda Police Forensic Laboratory. The findings are expected to provide conclusive DNA evidence to help settle the long-running case.
Barugahara noted that the process represents an important step toward truth, justice, and family harmony after decades of uncertainty.
He also expressed appreciation to the court, forensic experts, and the Uganda Police Force for facilitating the exercise in line with legal and scientific requirements.
