Uganda has been ranked the 24th most competitive outsourcing destination in the world out of 193 countries, according to the 2026 Global Outsourcing Talent Index published by international staffing firm Ataraxis.
The ranking places Uganda among the world's top 13 percent of outsourcing destinations, reflecting the country's growing position as a hub for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and digital services.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, the index evaluates countries using independent international datasets across five key areas: labour costs, English proficiency, talent availability, digital infrastructure, and business, legal, and political stability.
Uganda performed particularly well in labour-cost competitiveness, where it ranked 12th globally. The country also recorded strong performance in English proficiency, factors that contribute to its attractiveness as an outsourcing destination.
Within the East African Community, Uganda ranks second only to Kenya and is one of just seven African countries featured among the global top 25 in the index.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Aminah Zawedde, said the recognition validates the Government of Uganda's strategic investments in digital transformation, skills development, and the implementation of the National BPO Policy.
She noted that continued investment in digital infrastructure and talent development would further strengthen Uganda's competitiveness and attractiveness to global investors.
The latest ranking highlights Uganda's readiness to compete in the global outsourcing market and reinforces its position as a destination for companies seeking skilled, English-speaking talent alongside competitive labour costs.
