Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has been named on the shortlist for the Premier League Manager of the Season award following an impressive turnaround at Old Trafford.
Carrick, 44, took charge of Manchester United in January after Ruben Amorim with the club sitting sixth in the Premier League table. Since then, United have climbed to third place after winning 10 of their 15 league matches and suffering only two defeats during that period.
United also secured qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League after a dramatic 3-2 victory over Liverpool earlier this month. Carrick’s side has recorded important victories against several top teams, including Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea since his appointment.
The former Manchester United midfielder is the only manager on the shortlist who has not been in charge for the entire season, underlining the impact he has made in a short period.
Carrick previously won the Premier League Manager of the Month award for January after beginning his reign with victories over Arsenal and Manchester City.
Other nominees for the Manager of the Season award include Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola, Keith Andrews, Andoni Iraola and Regis Le Bris.
The award winner will be decided through a combination of fan votes and a panel of football experts, with the result set to be announced later this month.
