Minister of State for General Duties, Henry Musasizi, last evening officiated at the Standard Chartered Bank Group and Regional Visit Client Dinner at Kampala Serena Hotel, highlighting the bank’s role in supporting Uganda’s development agenda.

During the event, Musasizi praised Standard Chartered Bank for its commitment to co-financing major government projects, including the Kabalega International Airport in Hoima and the Kampala Industrial Business Park at Namanve.

“Uganda’s USD 66.1 billion economy projected for this fiscal year enjoys growing forward and backwards market linkages within the EAC economy, which is the fastest-growing and most diversified economic bloc on the African continent,” Musasizi said, emphasising the importance of regional integration for economic growth.

The Minister noted that the dinner provided a timely platform to strengthen collaboration between the Government of Uganda and the bank, particularly in mobilising financial resources to drive the country’s economic transformation.

Musasizi reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering public-private partnerships, highlighting the strategic role of financial institutions in facilitating infrastructure development, job creation, and regional competitiveness.

The event brought together regional and local clients of Standard Chartered, government officials, and industry stakeholders, reinforcing the partnership between the public sector and the financial services industry in advancing Uganda’s development goals.
