Mityana Chief Administrative Officer, Edith Mutabaazi, has cautioned that anyone who fails to attend training sessions on the effective use of Parish Development Model (PDM) funds will not receive the money.
She issued this warning during the recently concluded district budget conference held at Mizigo Community Hall, as the district readies itself to disburse the fourth phase of PDM funds under the 2026/2027 financial year.
According to Mutabaazi, a directive requires that “every person who wants the PDM funds has to be trained in the enterprise category they applied for.”
Mityana District comprises 75 parishes, each with its own PDM SACCO. Mutabaazi noted that every parish has already received at least 300 million shillings, totaling over 22.5 billion shillings allocated to benefit 22,500 households over a three-year period.
District Production Officer Daniel Sseremba revealed that his department has begun establishing training centers and plans to have one in each parish. He emphasized that “no one will get the PDM money if he/she has not completed the three-month training.”
Meanwhile, Ivan Kisakye, the district’s Senior Commercial Officer, mentioned that while they have deployed some Wendi agents, a few parishes still lack them, making implementation more challenging.
On his part, Drake Joseph Mukiibi, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Mityana, urged the district’s technical officers to take advantage of existing local opportunities to promote tourism and boost district development. Mukiibi remarked that although Mityana has many tourist attractions, “as a district, we have failed to develop them,”and he encouraged the teams to work on them to generate revenue.
