Finance Minister Henry Musasizi has commissioned the construction of the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) Statistics House in Entebbe, describing the project as a strategic investment that will strengthen Uganda's statistical capacity and support evidence-based national development planning.

Speaking during the foundation-laying ceremony, Musasizi said the new facility will help modernize Uganda's statistical systems to meet emerging demands and international standards. He noted that the Statistics House will support research, innovation, skills development, and improved data management through the establishment of training hubs, innovation laboratories, and a modern Data Centre.

The minister urged ROKO Construction Co. Ltd and all stakeholders involved in the project to complete the works within the agreed timeline while maintaining high quality standards and ensuring value for money.

Musasizi also welcomed Uganda's bid to host the East African Statistics Bureau at the new facility, reaffirming the government's commitment to strengthening regional cooperation in statistics.

UBOS Board Chairman Dr. Albert Byamugisha described the construction of the Statistics House as a major milestone for the institution. He thanked the Government of Uganda for its continued support and funding, expressing confidence that ROKO Construction Co. Ltd will deliver a quality project within the agreed timeframe.

UBOS Executive Director and Chief Statistician Dr. Chris Mukiza said the project marks a new chapter in Uganda's statistical development. According to Mukiza, the facility will house the East African Statistics Bureau, a modern Data Centre, Data Science and Innovation Hubs, training facilities, and offices for census and survey coordination.

He added that the investment is expected to create jobs, strengthen institutional capacity, promote innovation, and enhance evidence-based decision-making across the country.

ROKO Construction Chairman Mark Koehler thanked the Government of Uganda and the Uganda Bureau of Statistics for entrusting the company with the project. He pledged that ROKO Construction will deliver the facility safely, on time, and to the required quality standards through professionalism and collaboration.
