Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Sunday toured several of Kigali's flagship infrastructure and real estate developments as part of his ongoing official working visit to Rwanda.

Among the projects visited was the King Faisal Hospital Expansion Project, one of Rwanda's most significant healthcare investments. The facility, which currently operates with 200 beds, is being expanded to accommodate 400 beds. The upgraded hospital will also feature a modern Intensive Care Unit (ICU), VVIP wings and a helipad, enhancing its capacity to provide specialized medical services.

The expansion project is being undertaken by Shelter Group Africa, a company that has played a key role in delivering major infrastructure developments supporting Rwanda's long-term economic and urban development agenda.

Gen Muhoozi also toured Nyandungu Eco Park, one of Kigali's premier leisure and ecological conservation destinations, before visiting Parklane Estate, a luxury residential development located in the Gacuriro neighbourhood. The estate was also developed by Shelter Group Africa.

During the tour, the Ugandan military chief was accompanied by Kigali City Mayor Sam Dusengiyumva, who briefed him on the various projects and Rwanda's ongoing urban transformation efforts.

The infrastructure tour forms part of Gen Muhoozi's official working visit to Kigali, where he held discussions with senior leaders of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) and met Rwandan President Paul Kagame.

The visit is aimed at strengthening military cooperation and advancing areas of mutual interest between Uganda and Rwanda, reflecting the continued improvement in bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries.
