The meeting will begin with a session of Chiefs of Defence Forces on Wednesday, followed by Defence Ministers on Thursday before culminating in a Heads of State and Government summit on Friday.

The summit is also expected to draw senior officials from the United Nations, including the Under-Secretary for Peacekeeping Operations, the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Somalia and the Head of the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS).

Representatives of the African Union, including the Commission Chairperson, the Commissioner for Peace and Security and the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia and Head of AUSSOM, are also expected to participate.

The Deputy Executive Secretary General of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) will attend the meeting, highlighting the regional bloc's role in supporting peace and security efforts in Somalia.

The summit will be held under the theme, "To Sustain the Stabilisation Process in Somalia."

Uganda said hosting the summit reflects its continued commitment to regional peace, security and stability through cooperation with the African Union, the United Nations, IGAD and other partners.
