The Uganda Tourism Board, led by CEO Juliana Kagwa, officially launched the national rollout of the Seven Wonders of Uganda, a citizen-driven tourism initiative developed in partnership with Africa Tourism & Environment Initiatives (ATEI) and Brand Ambassadors 256. The announcement marks a significant milestone in promoting domestic tourism and encouraging Ugandans to explore and take pride in the country’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

The launch event also featured the official flag-off of the newly introduced Kampala Hop On, Hop Off (Kampala City Hop Off Hop On) sightseeing buses to showcase the seven wonders of Uganda, designed to transform how residents and visitors experience the capital city, offering a curated journey through Kampala’s most iconic landmarks and hidden gems, making tourism more accessible, interactive, and engaging for both locals and international travelers.

The Seven Wonders of Kampala showcased through this initiative include Gaddafi Mosque, Uganda Museum, Kasubi Tombs, Makerere University, Baháʼí Temple, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, Kabaka’s Lake, and Lubiri Palace. Each site represents a unique piece of Uganda’s cultural, spiritual, and historical identity, reinforcing Kampala’s position as a vibrant tourism hub in East Africa.

This initiative also aligns with broader tourism goals ahead of POATE 2026, emphasizing job creation, cultural pride, and shared economic prosperity. It invites all Ugandans to rediscover their country, explore its hidden treasures, and actively participate in shaping a sustainable tourism future.

The journey begun at Sheraton Hotel for the maiden tour, marking the start of a nationwide movement to celebrate Uganda’s beauty and heritage through immersive travel experiences.
