The Uganda Consulate in Arusha hosted Uganda Night 2026 reaffirming the shared commitment of Uganda and Tanzania to strengthening tourism, enhancing connectivity, and advancing regional economic integration.
Held under the theme, "Building Bridges, Unlocking Opportunities Together," the event celebrated the impact of the Uganda Arusha Connect campaign in fostering meaningful partnerships among tour operators, investors, media, and tourism stakeholders.
According to the Uganda Tourism Board, the initiative continues to play an important role in positioning Uganda as a leading tourism destination in the region while creating opportunities for travel, trade, and investment.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Vivian Lyazi, Director of the Uganda Tourism Board, said the Board is working closely with the Uganda Consulate in Arusha to strengthen the visibility of Destination Uganda during KARIBU-KILIFAIR.
"We are pleased to work closely with the Uganda Consulate in Arusha to strengthen the visibility of Destination Uganda at KARIBU-KILIFAIR. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to promoting Uganda, strengthening regional tourism cooperation, and creating new opportunities for travel, trade, and investment.
"As the expo continues to grow in influence, we remain committed to leveraging such platforms to expand market access, build strategic partnerships, attract tourism investment, and drive sustainable tourism development," he said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Uganda Night 2026 also highlighted the success of the Uganda Arusha Connect campaign in building partnerships among tourism stakeholders while supporting Uganda's participation in POATE 2026.
Speakers led by Ambassador Anne Katusiime, Ambassador Richard Kabonero, and the East African Community Secretary General emphasized that the future of East Africa's tourism sector lies in collaboration rather than competition.
They encouraged stakeholders to leverage AFCON 2027 and the Pamoja Bid initiative to promote multi-destination tourism, attract investment, and position East Africa as a premier global tourism destination.
The event underscored the growing cooperation between Uganda and Tanzania in using tourism as a driver for regional integration, economic growth, and stronger cross-border partnerships.
